Gerry is a decent budget ski brand that provides skiers with affordable gear to use on the slopes. It’s not a top brand in the industry based on performance or quality, but inexpensive items are good for any skier looking to save money.
My name is Christine, and I created this blog to give skiers a go-to source for all sorts of stuff related to the sport. I’ve used many different ski brands over the years and have done some research to come up with the information here.
This post will explore Gerry as a ski brand. I’ll tell you why I don’t think this is a top brand but highlight why you might want to choose it as a budget option because it’s affordable. I’ll also provide you with some other related information.
Let’s dig in.

Key Takeaways
- Gerry isn’t a top ski brand, but it’s still worth exploring if you want a budget option for clothing or outerwear. The brand has been around for a while, so even though it’s cheaper, it still has a good reputation.
- Don’t rely on Gerry to deliver excellent performance or quality. This is a budget ski brand, and a few tradeoffs are made with that and the quality of equipment it produces.
- The best thing about Gerry as a ski brand is that it has been around for a long time. You can count on this brand for good value and decent customer support.
Is Gerry a Good Ski Brand?
Gerry is an ok ski brand. It’s definitely not one of the best brands in the industry, but it’s also not the worst. The best thing about the company is that it offers affordable ski clothing and outerwear that can work well for skiers on a budget.
But even though choosing an affordable ski item can be enticing, it’s not always the best choice. You often get what you pay for, and there is a drop in the quality of budget options, especially when they need to perform well in demanding conditions.
Gerry offers a range of ski clothing that can work for most skiers. Its jackets and pants are probably the brand’s most popular items. These models are affordable and give you reliable performance – for a while.
The main issue with budget brands is that you rarely get the durability and reliability you’ll see with bigger-name brands that are more expensive. This price often correlates directly to the quality and performance piece of gear.
But Gerry isn’t the worst budget ski brand out there, and that’s why I think they are an OK option. Sometimes you need ski outerwear and just don’t have the money to spend on expensive items. Gerry is a solid alternative with that in mind.
Gerry Jacket
Gerry makes several decent ski jackets worth exploring if you are on a budget and still want gear that will deliver ok performance. These aren’t the best jackets you can find, but they are a good value based on their price.
The 3-in-1 jackets that Gerry makes are probably the best options for skiers. These give you flexibility in terms of the conditions they will work well in and have a price tag of just under a hundred dollars.
That’s an excellent price for a ski jacket and keeps these jackets very budget-friendly. Gerry also has a few quilted jackets that can work for warmer days on the mountain or as a nice mid-layer to pair with a good shell.
These aren’t the warmest quilted jackets you can find, but again, the price is right. Gerry has you covered if you want a very affordable option that will do a decent job of keeping you relatively warm.
FAQs
Here are a few quick answers to some of the most commonly asked questions related to if Gerry is a good ski brand.
Where is the brand Gerry from?
Gerry was started in Colorado. The brand was founded here and is still based in the Rocky Mountain state today. Even though Gerry products are found all over the place, its Colorado roots run strong.
Are Gerry snow pants warm?
Gerry snow pants are decently warm, but they aren’t the warmest option out there. You can find warmer snow pants, and Gerry doesn’t use the best insulating materials to keep its prices down. But the pants are still effective in the snow.
Are Gerry snow pants waterproof?
Yes, every model of snow pants that Gerry makes is waterproof. They will give you adequate protection from snow and moisture when you ski. They don’t have the best waterproof materials or technology, but they are still pretty good for a budget brand.
Final Thoughts
Gerry isn’t a great ski brand, but it still offers good budget-priced items that all kinds of skiers can take advantage of. Its jackets and snow pants aren’t the highest-quality options, but it’s worth exploring if you need something decent without breaking the bank.
If you are a serious skier looking for long-lasting performance, I don’t recommend going with a budget brand like Gerry. Better options will give you at least several seasons of steady use.

What are washing and drying instructions
Christine
Follow any instructions on your jacket for specific washing and drying. Usually, you want to use a special water repellent specific type of wash avoid using the dryer, and let a jacket air dry. But I’m not certain of any particular washing/drying instructions for Gerry jackets. Hope that helps.

I have used a Gerry jacket for mountaineering, upto nearly 6000 mtrs and it worked well for me each time. One of the climbs upto 5300 mtrs was in the Himalayas and the other was to Kilimanjaro. The jacket has been awesome. Reading your article I am wondering whether I got lucky or I should be picking up another one for higher climbs. So far, I have LOVED my jacket. I did not know about the brand at all till I read this article. The jacket was a gift.

Hi TAL,
That’s awesome to hear you had such a good experience with that Gerry jacket. It sounds like you brought it on some epic adventures! Sometimes the best brand or particular jacket is simply the one that works the best for you and doesn’t relate to others’ experience with it. That seems to be the case here. Hope you are having a great winter!

I’ve been wanting to compliment Gerry for making a great women’s coat. Would send a photo but don’t see possibility here. Purchased a purple knee-length coat with attached (wonderfully shaped) faux fur-lined hood at
Dick’s Sporting Goods about 3+? years ago…on sale at a great price.
I love this coat and even though I’ve purchased another winter coat (REI Stormhenge) I will not give this one up. It is so very warm and cozy…and it protects me from winds/water repellent, too. I lucked out with my Gerry coat.
